YFC Youths Unlimited receive $1500
Grants Committee Chair Patty Rosby presents a $1500 cheque to Dennis Hemminger of the YFC Youth Unlimited at the annual Citizen of the Year presentation and fundraising dinner. These funds were made possible by the George Mussallem Youth Fund held with the Community Foundation.
Dennis is the area supervisor for YFC, a faith based charitable organization, that supports local youth in Maple Ridge. Dennis coordinates providing funding to ensure that hungry secondary students receive healthy meals on a daily basis. Mr. Hemminger works with the schools’ youth workers connecting with students who are in need.
Three Rivers Area Scouts receive $1500
Jacquie Montgomery of the Maple Ridge Community Foundation presented a $1500 cheque to the Three Rivers Area Scouts on behalf of the George Mussallem Youth Fund at the January Scouter’s meeting. Area Commissioner, Lee Hamilton said the funds will be used to help offset the costs of Youth activities, camps, etc. in the Area. The funds are much appreciated as it is becoming increasingly costly to maintain the high quality Scouting Program to our youth. Scouting has a policy that no youth will be denied our program because of affordability.
And the 2011 Grant Recipients Are.......
- YFC Youth Unlimited - $2,000 for breakfast program for high school students.
- Ridge Meadows Hospice Society - $4,000 for children's bereavement support program.
